Implications of Open Science Reforms for the Field of English for Academic Purposes

Dr. Ricky Jeffrey gained his doctorate in education from the University of Nottingham, and his BA in analytic philosophy at the University of Cambridge. He holds the Certificate and Diploma in English Language Teaching to Adults (CELTA and DELTA). He has published in peer-reviewed journals (SSCI) and presented at international conferences in the fields of education and applied linguistics. His research has included work on the design of high-school leaving assessments in China and England, test-taker reasons for choosing between the English exams IELTS and TOEFL, and the use of teacher-to-student feedback comments in rating scale development. For the latter research he received the 2015 British Council Innovation in Assessment Prize. He is an “ambassador” with the Center for Open Science, and tries to incorporate open science reforms into his teaching and practice.
